Inauguration and First Convention

New Zealand Chapter hosted the Official Inauguration of the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd and the First Asia Pacific Basava convention in Auckland, New Zealand on 8th and 9th of April 2023.

Official inauguration of the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd by Hon Minister Michael Wood, Minister for Immigration, Transport, Workplace Relations and Safety, Auckland, Finance – Associate Minister.Mahatma Gandhi Centre, Auckland at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre, Auckland, New Zealand.

The First Asia Pacific Basava Convention was also held and inaugurated under the new brand of the Charity by Mr. Arvind Jatti, President, Basava Samithi, Bengaluru, India.

We thank DR. PRABHAKAR BASAVAPRABHU KORE, Chairman, KLE Society, Belagavi, Chancellor, KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research (KAHER), for supporting the Charity inauguration.

Maneyalli Mahamane

New Zealand Chapter is known for its regularity in conducting “Maneyalli Mahamane” on the Second Saturday of every month. Exclusive audio files were developed to systematically undertake the Sahaja ShivayOga programme which was introduced and trained by Poojya Shri Dr ShivamUrthi MurughAsharaNaru, MurughAmath, Chitradurga. Children participate with great enthusiasm to learn and develop art works. This is the driving force for greater participation from members during these programs.

During COVID-19 restrictions, some of the events are organized through virtual meetings. Special Guests and Subject Experts were invited for many Mahamane events and organized many virtual seminars on various topics.

Vachana teaching has been discussed and the understanding of wider meaning of vachana’s during the Mahamane event. Children and Adults exclusively understood vachanas by reading, singing and discussing.

Vachanotsava ​

Annually vachana competitions, recitation and showcasing of vachana learning is celebrated during the Diwali each year as Vachonatsava.

Vachanas with classical music. All the attendees appreciated the music and got understanding many vachanas and its meeting.

During the same online event we have invited another guest speaker Dr Shashikant Pattan who conducted a workshop on “Personality Development in Vachana’s” This event is attended by many members and Basava followers across the globe.

Discussion on various topics of mental health, wellbeing and process of Ishta Linga meditation helps to keep us healthy. classical music of vachana and Speech on “Personality Development in Vachana”. At the 13 November 2022 Mahamane, special guests for our online event was Pandit Dr Mrithunjaya G Shettar.

About

In 2001 the New Zealand Chapter was established. It was inaugurated by Poojya Shri Mallikarjun Devru, Sarpabhooshan Math, BengaLUru and other senior leaders from Sydney at the time of Basava Jayanthi. It is registered as Incorporated Society with Companies Office of the New Zealand Government in 2002.

New Zealand Chapter is excited to host the First Asia Pacific Basava convention and the official inauguration of the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd in Auckland, New Zealand on 8th and 9th of April 2023.

At the 2015 Basava Jayanthi celebrations, New Zealand Chapter released the first production of vachanas “JagajyOti” composed by Late Smt Ratna Vaamanamurthy on compact disc containing various vachanas which was addressed by Poojya Shri Prabhu Channabasava SwAmIji, Motagi Math, AthaNi.

A key highlight of this convention was the release of the book titled “108 Vachanas of BasavEshwara” with explanation in different languages of India, compiled by Smt Usha Palakshappa, Advisor and Senior long-standing member of the New Zealand Chapter.

Previously, Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific New Zealand Chapter was operating as Basava Samiti of Australasia Inc and was inaugurated by Shri Mallikarjuna Devaru of Sarpabhushan Mutt, Bangalore in May 2001. Dr Shivamurthy Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji (Murugha sharanaru) of Shri Bruhanmutt, Chitradurga, Karnataka laid a strong foundation in April 2002 of Sharana philosophy in New Zealand.

Onboarding Basava Samiti of Australasia New Zealand Chapter Inc, onboarded the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd on the 06/07/2021 as a member under the BSAPAC umbrella to become the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific (New Zealand Chapter) Inc. Recognising itself as an international charity registered under ACNC with a legally established with its own NZBN number and very secure and collaborated operation.
