The Adelaide Chapter of Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd celebrated its annual event Guru Basava Jayanti on May 28th, 2022, at the Para Hills Community Centre. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamps (Diya) by the esteemed guests.
President Mr. Shadakshari delivered the welcome speech, extending a warm welcome to all guests, members, participants, volunteers, and sponsors attending the event.
The event was inaugurated by the Hon. MP Michael Brown, Gilllian Aldridge Mayor. The gathering was also graced by the presence of Hon. MP Michael Brown and the Hindu Society President Mr. Madhav Bhat, President of Shruthi Adelaide Mr. Narayana Rai, and Mr. Kulashreshta. The Executive Committee members welcomed all the delegates.
Following the inaugural ceremony, cultural programs were co-hosted by Raksha Ganiger and Gayatridevi Hiremath. A beautiful Bharatanatyam dance performance was presented followed by recitations of Vachanas by. Dr. Shambhu Baligar, the guest speaker, joined the event virtually and addressed the gathering on the topic of Basava Philosophy and Janapada Sahitya.
His Holiness, Nadoja, Dr. Annadaneeshwar Mahashivayogigalu Samsthana Math Mundargi, also joined virtually and blessed the event with his Ashirvachana.

The 06th May 2023 Basava Jayanthi Celebrations held at Dennison Centre marked the flagship event that is celebrated globally to remember and recollect the values and virtues promoted through the sayings of Guru Basava and his contemporaries. At this event general public recited, songs, values and virtues from Guru Basava’s philosophy to recall, and reinforce the virtues in the individuals with a view to advance the character of individuals. Several cultural programs in the form of dance, drama, singing and music will be show cased that reiterate virtues and values in the general public.
This became a great opportunity for community to gather by inviting diverse general public from all walks, many Australians with Indian cultured background attended the event. They shared how values have helped them in their daily life to stand up for integrity, transparency and truthfulness. It also highlighted how Guru Basava’s values have empowered women, uplifted the downtrodden and established democracy in the society with ease.

We identified and engaged experienced teachers to teach moral values and principles in the form of dances, dramas and songs to general public. This event brought together all people and reinforced communal harmony among all the various generations.
The event was inaugurated by the Federal MP Tony Zappia and MP Michael Brown who graced the occasion.
The event was a grand success with nearly 200 delegates attending the program. Excellent cultural performances and online telecast of Mr. Arvind Jatti, president of Basava Samiti, Bangalore was also delivered.
Over 200 people from all backgrounds including young, old and senior citizens attended the gathering. A number of children learnt cultural values via singing and dancing and received appreciation for their performances.

In 2021, Adelaide Chapter onboarded the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd to expand its growth opportunities. It is an unincorporated member of the Basava samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd.
For nearly two decades now Adelaide Chapter has been undertaking several activities to adopt, promote and propagate Guru Basava’s philosophy and literature.
The community recognises Adelaide Chapter for cohesiveness, harmony and welcoming nature. It works in partnership with several other associations and cultural organisations to co-host events, enable joint participation of artists at various festivals. It is recognised for the selfless services done by the community leaders.
It hosts several events including Basava Jayanthi, major festivals and outdoor events along with regular Mahamane programs.
