Cr Srini Pillamari also graced the occasion along with several cultural performances and children’s skits.
"Together We Rise” Inaugural Oath Ceremony
The Inaugural Oath Ceremony marked a significant milestone in the journey of the BSAPAC Sydney Chapter, bringing together its Executive Committee, volunteers, supporters and well-wishers in a shared commitment to Engage, Educate, Empower and Enlighten. The oath symbolised more than the formal establishment of a chapter and Mr. Jayaveer Prasad JK was sworn in as the first official president of Sydney Chapter on the 19 July 2025. Cr Barbara Ward from Gordon Ward graced the occasion.
Lights of Knowledge and StorySiri – Sydney’s Learning Momentum
With Sydney emerging as one of the strongest centres for Learn2Grow participation, the Chapter has become an important hub for digital learning, skills development and youth engagement. The growing number of Sydney based candidates inspired BSAPAC to extend its learning ecosystem through initiatives such as the Lights of Knowledge and StorySiri competitions on the 16th Nov 2025.
Mrs. Krishnapriya Sandeep presented her analysis on NSW crime trends from 2022–2025 using Power BI, uncovering patterns across theft, assault and justice-related offences. Mr. Ganesh Somasundaram explored global talent mobility, immigration pathways and labour market trends, examining how skills and workforce needs intersect across nations.
Mr. Emmanuel Musoni , CEO, GLAPD, A visionary community leader, he advanced education, social inclusion and sustainable development across African diaspora communities in Australia.
In 2026, the Sydney Chapter continued this momentum through its Basava Jayanthi celebration at Ermington Community Centre, featuring Vachana recitals, cultural performances, awards and recognition, and a Learn2Grow presentation demonstrating how technology and open data can be used to create meaningful learning opportunities. Cr Charles Chen, Deputy Lord Mayor and CR Sreeni Pillamarri, as the delegate of the Lord Mayor inaugurated the event.
The Sydney Chapter therefore represents more than a cultural association. It is part of a volunteer-led Australian charity movement seeking to translate timeless values into practical community outcomes encouraging people to learn, contribute, develop skills and serve society.
Through Basava philosophy, education, technology, volunteering and inclusive community programs, Sydney continues to contribute to BSAPAC’s vision of building a more knowledgeable, equitable and harmonious society.
Wisdom Expressions
Wisdom Expressions is a Sydney-exclusive, in-person creative learning programme by BSAPAC, bringing people together to explore and express wisdom, values and ideas through the arts.
The programme primarily focuses on group singing, delivered on a term-by-term basis, creating an enjoyable and supportive environment where participants can learn, practise and perform together. Alongside music, Wisdom Expressions will also provide opportunities to explore other creative forms, including dance, visual art, extempore expression, StorySiri, storytelling and other forms of creative expression.
The programme is open to everyone, with registrations welcome from people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. You do not need to be an accomplished artist or performer — simply bring your interest, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
3rd Asia Pacific Basava Convention
As a BSAPAC Chapter with just over 12 months old, the Sydney Chapter is proud and excited to host the 3rd Asia Pacific Basava Convention. The opportunity reflects the Chapter’s swift growth, strong organisational preparedness and collective volunteer spirit, demonstrating how a young chapter can confidently embrace a major responsibility.
More than hosting an event, Sydney is preparing to welcome everyone with warmth and inclusivity while creating a meaningful platform to promote the values of Guru Basava’s equality, dignity of work, service and shared human dignity.
It is a powerful expression of Together We Rise.
