To tackle this, the charity introduced the Dream Job Training program. This initiative offers smart, capable individuals the chance to take on leadership roles within the Not-for-Profit (NFP) sector, where they can gain critical corporate and leadership experience. These roles enable volunteers to showcase their expertise while contributing to the charity, often leading to greater professional opportunities in the paid workforce.
Many of BSAPAC’s Leaders and Directors are full-time professionals who manage their jobs and family commitments while dedicating their expertise to the charity. Their contributions are integral to the organisation’s success, and BSAPAC is deeply grateful for their service.

BSAPAC understands that even established professionals often experience career stagnation, with limited opportunities for growth or advancement. To tackle this, the charity has established the Professional Launchpad. Professional Launchpad is not conventional training. It is a real world professional opportunity designed to help individuals discover, demonstrate and strengthen their potential in a safe and supportive environment.
Participants undertake meaningful work, as suitable to their caliber or their passion within BSAPAC while being guided by experienced professionals. They are given the space to learn, make mistakes, receive feedback and grow, creating an environment for safer failure with professional handholding. Exposure to the real workplace helps participants develop technical capability, confidence, ethical judgement and the language needed to navigate difficult situations, communicate their values and overcome professional and cultural barriers.
Building Capability Through Experience
The experience extends beyond technical skills. Working within an Australian Registered Not For Profit environment that operates with corporate like systems, governance and accountability gives participants practical exposure to Australian workplace culture. It helps them demonstrate their attitude, reliability and capability while developing greater clarity about their professional direction.
Participants have received professional references for the work they undertake, providing tangible evidence of their contribution, skills and professional conduct. This experience has strengthened their readiness for opportunities and several participants have progressed into paid employment across government, universities, major employers, Not For Profit and the private sectors in their chosen professional careers.
