Basava Samiti Asia Pacific | Our mission, chapters and events

Operating Model

How We Work Together

Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific is a community built on shared values, volunteer spirit, and a commitment to uplifting people across our region. Our organisational structure reflects this. It is simple, transparent, and designed to support our events, youth initiatives, and partnerships with universities and community groups.

Our operating model is deduced from the vachanas which were formulated and approved by the ‘Parliament’ Anubhava Manatapa ಅನುಭವ ಮಂಟಪ’ that was promoted and practiced during the 12th Century by Guru Basava.

The Vachanas proclaim that in democracy all must have the scope to govern or to be a member of government. As a public company limited by guarantee this model has been adopted into the constitution.

The Charity protects minority interests and makes appropriate arrangements to support them. It facilitates the freedom of speech ಆನು ಒಲಿದಂತೆ ಹಾಡುವೆ, equality ಲಿಂಗಧಾರಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಒಂದೆ, flat structure, servant leadership, Freedom to practice their religion ಇಷ್ಟದ ಲಿಂಗ, freedom to participate and organise cultural and economic events in the society.

The Charity operates through a combination of strong governance, collaborative leadership, and active chapters that bring our mission to life in local communities.

Board of Directors

The Board provides overall guidance and stewardship. It ensures that our work stays aligned with Guru Basava philosophy, our values, our responsibilities, and the needs of the communities we serve in accordance with the legislative needs.

The Executive Leadership Team oversees the day-to-day running of the organisation and supports our officers, chapters, and partners. These senior leaders work closely together to ensure our programs are safe, inclusive, and impactful. They collectively deliver and execute the Charity’s vision

Our Functional Areas

To keep our work focused and effective, BSAPAC is organised into key functional areas. Each area supports a different part of our mission, and together they form a connected, collaborative whole.

Our functional areas provide the leadership, expertise and operational support that enable our chapters to serve communities across Australia and the Asia Pacific. Working together, they transform ideas into action, ensuring our programs are sustainable, innovative and guided by integrity.

Inspired by our value of Enlighten, each functional area brightens our charity whether through service, knowledge, innovation or leadership. Individually they shine with purpose; together they illuminate our journey towards a more compassionate, empowered and enlightened society.

Finance

The Division plays a critical role in strengthening financial sustainability by leading fundraising strategies, sponsorship planning, grants and acquittals across multiple government jurisdictions, revenue forecasting, financial risk management and long-term investment in the Charity’s vision. Through disciplined financial stewardship and strategic insight, it enables the Charity to scale its impact while maintaining accountability, integrity and public trust.

The division ensures robust financial governance, transparency and compliance with the requirements of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). It establishes consistent financial frameworks across its operations, while supporting the Charity’s evolving national and international activities.

Digital Engagement and Communications

The Communications and Digital Engagement leads Charity’s public presence, storytelling and community connection through its website, social media platforms, publications and digital communication channels. The Division is responsible for strengthening the Charity’s brand, expanding its reach and ensuring consistent, accurate and engaging communication across all platforms.

As the custodian of Charity’s digital gateway, the Division oversees the website as a central platform for community engagement, service delivery, membership, partnerships, fundraising and promotion of the Charity’s initiatives. Through strategic content management, digital campaigns and audience insights, it enables more people to discover, access and benefit from our services and programs.

The Division also plays a critical role in communicating Guru Basava’s universal philosophy in a way that resonates with diverse communities beyond language, cultural and ethnic boundaries. By using contemporary storytelling via StorySiri, Vachana Jeevana competitions, multilingual approaches and accessible digital content, it seeks to make timeless values relevant to modern audiences while building awareness, trust and participation across Australia and the Asia Pacific.

Technology and Innovation

Headed by the Director of Technology and Innovation, this Division drives the Charity’s digital transformation and technology strategy, building a secure, scalable and intelligent digital ecosystem that enables BSAPAC’s long-term vision. Leveraging the Microsoft technology platform and best-in-class cloud solutions, the Division develops innovative systems that support volunteer collaboration, governance, education, fundraising, community engagement and data-driven decision-making.

Designed to operate at scale, the technology platform seamlessly integrates multiple enterprise applications, automates business processes and minimises administrative effort, allowing our officers to focus on delivering meaningful community outcomes. By embracing automation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and modern digital capabilities, the Division provides the resilient foundation required to support BSAPAC’s expanding operations across Australia and the Asia Pacific, positioning the Charity as a leader in technology-enabled charitable services. It is supported by skilled and enthusiastic Microsoft 365 administrators.

Chapters and Events

The Chapters & Events Division provides the operational backbone that enables BSAPAC’s chapters and community initiatives to function effectively, consistently and sustainably across Australia and beyond. Each chapter reflects the unique character of its local community while staying connected to our shared values and mission.

The Division supports Charity’s development, Officer onboarding, operational frameworks and coordination processes that empower volunteers to deliver meaningful outcomes aligned with the Charity’s vision and values.

The Division plays a key role in planning, designing and delivering events, ensuring consistency in governance, branding, communication and operational standards across all locations. From community gatherings and educational programs to major cultural and strategic events, it provides end-to-end coordination support, including planning, logistics, promotion, targeted outreach and audience engagement.

By developing repeatable processes, supporting regional chapters and strengthening volunteer capability, the Division enables BSAPAC to scale its impact while maintaining quality and consistency.

Research and Philosophy

The Philosophy and Research Division of Basava Samiti Asia Pacific serves as the intellectual and cultural foundation for preserving, interpreting, and applying the timeless wisdom of Guru Basava and the Sharana tradition in a contemporary, multicultural world.

The division focuses on the cultural translation and landing of Vachana philosophy — ensuring that the deeper values embedded within the Vachanas are not only translated linguistically, but meaningfully adapted for diverse communities, generations, and global audiences. Through research, publications, educational resources, and innovative formats such as Vachana Cards, learning materials, and knowledge frameworks, the division enables practical adoption of values that nurture character, ethical decision-making, social responsibility, and community harmony.

The research agenda explores philosophical frameworks such as Prajna Prabhutwa: The Triple Architecture of Human, Community, and Nature, The Sovereign Ecosystem: Architecting Your Mind to Uplift the World, and Universal Alignment: A Blueprint for Personal Freedom and Socio-Economic Harmony. These concepts seek to connect personal transformation with collective wellbeing, examining the relationship between individual consciousness, social systems, and our responsibility towards the wider ecosystem.

Aligned with the Charity’s Engage, Educate, Empower, and Enlighten framework, the division aims to measure impact beyond participation, progressing from community connection to knowledge acquisition, from knowledge acquisition to philosophical adoption, and ultimately towards measurable behavioural and societal transformation. The goal is to create a measurable social impact framework where philosophy becomes a catalyst for personal transformation, community wellbeing, and societal progress beyond mere cultural preservation.
